Fu Manle

ARTIST BIO

(b. 1965, Hebei CHINA)

The attraction of Fu’s painting originates from his unique painting style and black humour while using a monochromatic colour scheme to suggest a sense of unease within his paintings. Fu comments on the social awareness in the modern society, where his figures may implicate people of the time may have a complex life where they have to put on fake smiles to mask their inner feelings and insecurity. The elongation of the figures and their comical facial expressions show contradiction, these are the characteristics of Fu’s work the bitter but sweet reality of life.
