ARTIST BIO::: :::
(b. 1982, SOUTH KOREA)
Hwang Saejin paints corsages, scarves, designer bags, umbrellas, comforters, cushions expressing our constant materialistic pursuit. While maintaining the original design of the luxurious goods, she intends to reinterpret their design in floral patterns. They are stitched into the shape of each product, while acrylic is painted on them in order to enhance its materiality.
The intended saturation of floral patterns on her canvas are too vibrant to be ignored, it embodies the distorted and excessive desire in the contemporary society.
