The following excerpt is taken from a personal statement from artist Liu.
"To me, living simply amongst noen lights is inspirational. SImplicity is also my attitude to art. Yet it had not been easy to stay on the path of art, but the love and longing of art, as well as family and friends kept me going. Everyone has a duty in this world that is to live life the fullest. At my early stage, I was affectionate about my father's glorious military medals. I wanted to grow up to be like my father, an outstanding and lovable man. Though I got much encouragement from him, I did not pursue a military career. I embarked on an arduous, challenging , mystifying and long windy journey especially in modern times.
Art is my way of remembering and paying respect to my father, with streak of guilt to my loved ones. In life, we are touched by some and in turn touch others."
