(b.1968, Beijing China)

I have always been interested in using an oriental style of humour to depict images containing cultural symbols of a metaphorical nature.  I also like to reveal people's state of mind, their unique innermost complexities.

A playful reference to history and the redefinition of dance come together in my paintings, to create a world as weird as that in Alice in Wonderland.

The bold use of colour in the background and the free style of brushwork correspond to the High spirits embodied in the twists and turns and energetic leaps of the dancers.

Focusing on the dance alone, political connotations fade away, and all that remain are human sentiments, which seem comical and surreal.  Paradoxically, the dance itself resembles an illusion.
