Kozo Nishino

ARTIST BIO::: :::
(b.1951, JAPAN)

In 1977, Kozo graduated from Kyoto City University of Art, Japan.  He has since established his career as a sculptor to become a leading figure in the field of large scale metal sculpture.  His inspiration comes from his international travel to destinations including areas of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia, where he would visit ruins.  He later became inspired by large man-made buildings and structures.  Kozo is known for his use of mateerials including titanium, aluminium, stainless steel and iron.  Although these materials are usually associated with heavy structures, Kozo's style is unique in that his work is kinetic, gentle, light and breezy.  His experrise in welding technique allows him to achieve this delicate aesthetic.

Kozo Nishino is a leading figure in large format metal sculpture with many group and solo exhibitions in Japan including the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Kyoto City Museum of Art.  His works are represented in corporate, public and private collections nationally and internationally.
